Off-Highway Podcast - with Andre Aasrud (C40 Cities), Sylvie Binder & Julia Casagrande (NYC)
In today's podcast episode, Alastair speaks to André Aasrud from C40 Cities, and Sylvie Binder and Julia Casagrande from the NYC Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice (MOCEJ).
C40 Cities is a global network of mayors in major cities working together to tackle the climate crisis. New York City is a key player.
Together, we talk about the challenges and opportunities the collaboration offers. Costs and availability of electric construction equipment can present a barrier to adoption, but it is noted that much can be learned from successful European initiatives, such as those seen in Oslo. C40 Cities aims to expand globally, incorporating more of the global South, highlighting benefits such as improved air quality and reduced noise in the workplace, in addition to addressing the climate issue.
The NYC MOCEJ launched the North American Electric Construction Coalition last September. This episode introduces you to the coalition which aims to promote electric construction equipment across North America.
Tune in to listen to this insightful discussion about how cities are embracing the collaborative efforts to move to electric!
